THE CHOICE
IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE,
YOUR BRIEF STINT ON EARTH IS MERELY...
A FART IN THE WIND

For lack of better words, our existence really is nothing more than a fart in the wind...
No, seriously, think about it...some lives are loud, impactful & more powerful than others, while some are quiet & go undetected. Some linger around for quite some time, while others just flat out stink. But all of them eventually fade away into the universe...

Or in the words of Sir William Wallace:

Now before you get all upset, promise to give me less than 5 minutes of your time to read this page in its entirety. Only then do you have every right to call me all the names in the book you would like. Deal? Deal. Then in that case, onward we charge!!!
People in our world die every day, hour, minute & second.
To be precise, 3 people die every second, 180 die every minute & 11,000 die every hour. On any given day, 250,000 people will die.
The bad news is, our life on this earth is nothing more than a temporary residence & at some point, we will die.
Unfortunately, we do not have a choice in that.
The good news is, we do have a choice in where we spend our eternity. Believe it or not, we were created by The God of the Bible & our lives belong to Him. He decides the day of our birth & He determines the day of our death. God decides the beginning & God decides the end. On every tombstone you will see a date of birth followed by a date of death, with a dash in between. That thin line between birthdate & deathdate is your part. That is where you decide to live for Him, or for yourself.
Contrary to popular belief, personal opinion, or emotion, we're given 2 very simple options for our part:

This is not a choice made on an intellectual basis, but simply by your very own free will to believe, or not to believe. You make your choice first, & then all that follows in this life (& the next) is based solely on the position you have taken. The arguments don’t come first & then you choose. It’s “I choose not to believe” & thus I create my arguments as to why I don’t believe. This is the same for those who choose to believe.
Lucky for us, in a world full of new & continually changing man-made religions, cults, theories, rules & popular opinions, God has given us every advantage necessary through the Bible to make our choice. This book is the instruction manual for life, written by The Creator Himself. It contains His very own words & commands as to what He requires of us as well as laying out the rewards & consequences of our choices. All we have to do is open the Book & investigate for ourselves. Think of the BIBLE as "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth."
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, & is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17
In addition to that, God doesn't play favorites & has made this very promise to everyone, regardless of age, race, gender, religion and/or sexual preference (contrary to media portrayal):
“You will seek Me & find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13
From this point on, you make your choice & all that follows up to your final breath on earth, is based on the position you have taken.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no purgatory or reincarntion. There are no 2nd chances beyond the grave - thousands before, but none after. Each & every one of us as we pass from this life to the next, will have to stand before a righteous, just & holy God for our life & unfortunately "I didn't know" won't fly with The Big Guy in the sky.
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement” - Hebrews 9:27
Unfortunately at this point, you no longer have a choice. Your decisions & actions in life have decided for you. God will then honor your choices according to your will. Your very own words will free you or convict you.
"But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” - Matthew 12:36-37
Sadly, many who reject or ignore God & His revealed Word do so because of pride, comfort, ignorance or they just flat out don't care nor like what they hear. To accept the Bible as true would require us to think seriously about God & our responsibility to Him. In return, this threatens us with a “change in lifestyle” which we automatically assume is for the worst, but in reality it's exactly the opposite!
Jesus tells us "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." - John 10:10.
Life is not just "existing" or acquiring "things" because whatever you have, can be taken away at any moment. An abundant life from following Christ cannot ever be lost, nor taken away in this life or the next. It remains secure for eternity. Many who are unhappy will go as far as giving up & selfishly taking their own life rather than seeking The One who created it & loves them unconditionally.
Sadly, they ignore the promise & free invitation from Jesus: "Come to me, all you who are weary & burdened, & I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you & learn from me, for I am gentle & humble in heart, & you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy & my burden is light.”
- Matthew 11:28-30
For the believer in Christ, life on earth - with all its trials, disappointments, afflictions & sorrows - is as bad as it will get.
Following this life, we will enter Heaven. For the nonbeliever, this life is as good as it gets. It's all downhill from here, with the terrifying moment of God's judgment & an eternity separated from Him in hell & torment to come. The choice for each one of us is clear. Will it be Heaven or Hell?
For this brief moment in time, the decision is still up to you.
"We are here for only a moment, visitors & strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without at trace..." - 1 Chronicles 29:15
MODERN TRANSLATION: "Your life on earth is a fart in the wind just like the lives before you & those to come."
As stated earlier, 11,000 people die every hour. Many have bet their eternal soul on the premise that the Bible is not true without so much as ever reading it or investigating the overwhelming wealth of evidence confirming its truth. They are hoping that it's nothing but a book of mythology & that God doesn't exist. It’s a risky gamble & the stakes are forever...
Regardless of what you think or may have heard, God loves you & does not want to see anyone die without Jesus Christ as their Savior.
But since He cannot force us to love Him (forced love is a contradiction), each one of us must choose for ourselves whom we will serve.
"For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!"- Ezekiel 18:32
In order to respect your free choice, God has made the evidence for Christianity convincing but not compelling. If you want to suppress or ignore the evidence all around you including that which is presented in the Bible - then you are free to do so. But that would be a volitional act, not a rational one. You can reject Christ, but you cannot honestly say there's not enough evidence to believe in Him if you take the initiative to look.
One second after our last breath on earth, we'll know exactly how we should've lived. But God has given us the Bible so we don't have to wait until we die to find out, realizing it's too late & there's no "do overs." Don't just take my word for it, but read His Word with an open mind for yourself. Start in the Gospel of John & sincerely ask God to reveal Himself to you through His Words. Let the Bible speak for Itself.

Author CS Lewis sums it up best:
“There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done' & those to whom God says in the end, 'Thy will be done.' All that are in Hell choose it."
