THE FACT
“10 out of 10 people kick the bucket.”
Yup. You're going to die. Let's just get that part out of the way right now...
Yes, it's uncomfortable for some. Yes, it sucks too, but it should come as no shock since the human body is programmed to age & expire. Don't believe me? Go ahead & whip out the ol' yearbook. How's that wedding photo treating you? I know...scary! Places on your body that once had hair don't anymore & the ones that didn't, do! In fact, you’re literally getting closer to dying as you read this...
In any society, death is an uncomfortable topic or a "buzz-kill" we choose to ignore as though it won't happen to us. We tend not to think or even talk about dying while we're young & healthy, but every now and then we have a health scare to remind us, or even someone we know dies, briefly sobering us up to the cold, harsh reality that life will end.
We then proceed to dress up & attend the funeral where some mourn, some get loaded & others are there out of guilt or obligation, all to reminisce about the deceased & how they "know they're looking down on us right now" & how "Heaven just gained another angel." But eventually time passes, we move on & soon forget about the fact that someday we’ll be the main attraction on display at our very own funeral.
"I'm not afraid to die. I just don't want to be there when it happens."
- Woody Allen
